13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired ^athe Valley Gate. They rebuilt it and ^bset its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and repaired a thousand cubits ^{▼▼A cubit was about 18 inches or 45 centimeters} of the wall, as far as ^dthe Dung Gate.

14 Malchijah the son of Rechab, ruler of the district of ^eBeth-haccherem, repaired ^fthe Dung Gate. He rebuilt it and ^gset its doors, its bolts, and its bars.
